Challenge #1 – Create a Facebook Business Page

You already most likely have all the photos, text, and ideas you need to build your Facebook business page. You just need to sit down and work through a few simple steps to get your page up and running.

2.5 billion people use Facebook every month, and more than 140 million businesses already use Facebook to connect with that massive audience.

Follow these steps to launch your page…

If you have already created a business page, check out our Facebook page Checklist to see if you have done everything you need to.

Before you can sign up for your Facebook business page, you need to log into your personal Facebook account. But don’t worry—the information from your personal account will not be publicly visible on your business page.

So, if you’re not already logged into your personal account, log in now, then dive into the Page creation steps.

Step 1: Sign up

Go to facebook.com/pages/create.

Click the Get Started button for the business/brand option:

Next, enter your accommodation information. For your page name, use your Accommodation name or the name people are likely to search for when trying to find your property.

For category, start typing and if a sub-category is listed on Facebook, their clever system will auto-complete it for you. For example, Holiday home rental

Once you choose your category, the box will expand to ask for a few further details, like your address and phone number. You can choose whether to make this information public, or to show only your city and county.

Step 2: Add Profile & Cover photos

Next, add a profile picture, and a Cover photo.

Step 3: Complete your page information

Click on settings – see picture below:

Next click on the Page Info link and fill in as much as you can – see below image:

Fill in the description, for example: Stylish 3 Bedroom Cottage with Sea Views in idyllic Cornwall. Sleeps 6. Family-friendly beach. Plenty of activities nearby. Your home away from home.

You can also add more categories, add a phone number (if you wish), but most importantly add your website link as many people will want to visit your website as a result of seeing your posts, email address etc.

Step 4: Create a page Username

Next, add a username – this will allow your facebook page to have a nice URL instead of the long facebook page number. So for example, you could change the URL from https://www.facebook.com/Weston-Manor-Cottage-104560424545519/? to https://www.facebook.com/Weston-Manor-Cottage which is much nicer.

To do this, visit the Page link as shown below:

and then click on the Create Page @username

Step 5. Tell your story

You’ve filled in all the simple details about your accommodation but there’s not much here yet to tell people why they should engage with your property on Facebook.

Fortunately, there’s a section of your Facebook business page where you can add a longer description of your accommodation

To access it, click See more in the left menu,

then click About, and then click Our Story on the right-hand side.

In this section, you can add a detailed description of what your accommodation offers and why they should Like or Follow your Page. This is a great place to set expectations.

Enter a headline and text for your story, then upload a relevant photo. When you’re finished, click Publish.

Step 6. Create your first post

Before you start inviting people to like the Facebook Page for your business, you should post some valuable content. You can create some of your own posts, or share relevant content from others.

Step 7. Choose an appropriate call-to-action button

At the top of your Page you can add a button that directs your Page visitors to take an action, such as visiting your website. Choose the button that will encourage the kinds of actions that will lead to more bookings, we recommend “Visit Website” as the aim of this is to get more visitors to your site, as your website should always be your best marketing tool.
